Department of Education DepEd hosted the 7th Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WaSH) in Schools International Learning (WinS ILE) together with the United Children’s Fund (UNICEF), 19 countries in Asia and the Pacific in pursuit of achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) last November 11 to 15 at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, Quezon City.
George Daniel Damian and Sophia Hervas Grade Two pupils of Section Mango shared the WinS best practices of Pitogo Elementary School’s (PES) and served as the children’s voice on scaling up the WinS program to the international community during the closing of the WinS ILE last November 15, 2019.
“Being clean makes me healthy everyday”, Sophia said. PES passed the global standards as one of the 3-star WinS implementers in the Division of Makati. George and Sophia, gave emphasis on the importance of having clean toilets, handwashing and tooth brushing facilities to health and its effect on students’ performance in school.
“ The school maintains its 3-stars rating through its implementation of the program Wash in Schools and Clean Living Ensures Admirable and Nurtured Students (WinS and CLEANS)”, said Mrs. Princess D. Francisco, school WinS focal person.
Pitogo Elementary school is compliant with the DepEd criteria of the WinS Program. The school will continuously advocates the program to improve learners healthy lifestyle.
